I was getting lost — in my brushwork, in shapes, lines, and colors. It’s something I recommend everyone to try. For two days I lost myself in the grass, and found it to be fascinating, relaxing, and almost meditative. Out of this immersion came two panels that will eventually be hung in the gallery, each 120x70 cm (together 120x140 cm).
As you can see, I “got lost” in the grass… letting the brush wander among weeds, branches, leaves, and blades. In contrast, I released the background into looser, more abstract strokes for the trees, allowing the air to move through. I need that air. Between detail and abstraction, density and openness, the painting breathes — just as I did while creating it.
